thus, reading history or any subject, for that matter, is not simply process of reading words on the page and memorizing some facts and details for a test .reading is a matter of becoming involved, of thinking or reacting and of questioning what is read . in many cases the pleasure and advantage of reading history lie not in the history itself, but in the personal meaning gained from it.

The purpose of history to understand human life is never fulfilled by the mere sifting of evidence for facts. Facts-finding is only the foundation from which the historian selects, arranges, and explains to reach the final step, I,e interpretation. Once a subject is selected, the historian must try to do real hard work, respect the facts, avoid ignorance and error as possible, and create conv incing interpretatation.
